“Travel and deliver goods to earn rewards."
The delivery system is the backbone of earning resources in the game, and will provide you with great benefits in the future. Open the Codex near your Bumpkin's portrait and see what's currently available.
The first tab of the window is Deliveries, and is split up into three categories: Coins, Chapter Tickets (Bracelet in the above screenshot) and FLOWER. Not all NPCs will be available to you at the beginning of the game, so level up and get them all!
The items requested by each NPC are the same for every player of the game, so you can compare notes with your friends to see what is coming up soon. You can see the current deliveries for your farm in every category at https://sfl.world/land (enter your Farm ID to see yours)
You can also see every possible delivery for every NPC at https://sfl.world/info/deliveries
There are currently three categories for deliveries, based on the token or resource the NPC gives as a reward.
Coins are the primary resource used to purchase seeds, tools, and for many crafting projects. While you can sell crops and fruits for Coins directly, deliveries to these NPCs are usually a better choice. The value of a Coin delivery is always higher than the sell price of the component resources when sold at the farmer's market or the digging store, so don't worry about whether or not you're getting a good deal, because you are. Even if you have earned the Treasure Map from digging (sell price +20%), Old Salty will still give you a better deal on diggable items.
These NPCs will give you whatever the currently active item is in the chapter race, in exchange for a wide variety of resources and items. The chapter race is designed for late-game players, so if you're new, focus on Coins and possibly FLOWER for now. These NPCs will go “on holiday” and refuse deliveries during the first few weeks of each new Chapter, to help with fairness for new players. Those who reside in the Plaza will all congregate inside the auction house, while those in other zones will remain where they are.
The ever-hungry goblins will pay for food, fish, and flowers with the highly coveted FLOWER token. Some pay only a little, while others can pay a lot. Take some time to do the math with sfl.world, though, as oftentimes the value of the delivery will be less than if you had sold the component items on the marketplace individually. Furthermore, some goblins will request the same items but pay differing prices. Once you have a good handle on the game and can build up some food, it is definitely worth your while to visit these ravenous creatures.

Once you've collected everything a character wants, a heart will appear in their window. Use this to see at a glance what you have ready to go out and what you're still missing.
In order to deliver something to an NPC, you must travel to wherever they live. You cannot deliver something from your farm. Each NPC in the window displays their location underneath their quote, and the background of their portrait also reflects this. There's also a Travel to button which will take you to the zone where they reside, but not directly to them. You must still walk up to and interact with them to finish the delivery. You will begin to learn the locations of every character as you play and develop a path to reach all of them as you travel through each area.
If you are playing on a desktop or laptop, you can take advantage of a fun trick. Enter the Plaza or another zone where you can move around. Open your Codex, and when you find the next NPC in your area that needs a delivery, you can actually walk towards them with the WASD or arrow keys while your Codex is open. That way, you can easily keep track of who needs what without having to constantly open and close the window.
After you successfully make your delivery, you will notice the green bar at the top of the window increase. This is the amount of delivery points you earned for that order. By clicking on the present icon, you will be able to see your progress to the next reward, and what that reward will be. Once the bar is full, the present icon will start blinking. Make sure to collect it before you deliver more orders, as you won't earn points while you have an unclaimed reward! You can see all of the possible rewards for each NPC at https://sfl.world/info/flowers
Note that some NPCs do not have a point bar and will not provide any rewards for successive deliveries. This includes all of the goblins and some others such as Peggy and the Pharaoh.
If you can't complete the delivery for whatever reason, or just don't want to, you can skip one delivery per day, per NPC. You can only do this, though, if the delivery has been active for at least 24 hours. A timer will tell you how much longer before an order can be skipped, but it is the same for every order as it is just a countdown until the game reset at 00:00 UTC. Note that you can skip an order from anywhere, including while standing near the NPC.
Delivery orders will remain in the queue until you complete or skip them. This allows you to time to complete orders that might require food or flowers that take time to prepare. Every day brings new deliveries, though, so you can think of it as another delivery card underneath the one you are working on. If you complete the order from a previous day, the current day's delivery will become active, allowing you to make up to two deliveries to one character per day. Or, if you skip the order, the card on top is discarded and the current day is shown instead.
Don't worry about needing to skip orders that are too expensive or impossible to craft yet. NPCs are forgiving and don't keep track of how many times you dismiss thier requests. Also don't feel bad if you can't clear the board and complete 24 deliveries in a single day. There is no bonus for doing so. Just work within your means and play style and do your best.
This special event usually happens once per week, though it may not depending on the events of the game. For the duration of this day, the first delivery you make to an NPC will have double the reward, regardless of what type. This means if you have an older delivery active, it will be doubled and the new delivery that will appear immediately afterward will not be doubled. Or, if you skip a delivery, the new one will be doubled, if you can make it before the day ends.
This event is visible on the in-game calendar, but it was not always that way. Previously, when you made a delivery to Pumpkin' Pete in the Plaza, he would whisper to you when the date of the next Double Delivery Day would be. You could see it again by talking to him a second time, but if you forgot you would have to wait until the next day and make a delivery to him again.
