“Help rescue the chickens while avoiding tricky obstacles in this survival challenge!”
Chicken Rescue is one of the minigames accessible through the Kingdom Portal. Completing it gives you a fixed number of Marks, which changes every day along with the goal score. Emblems and items that boost Mark earnings do not affect the payout of this or any other minigame.
The point of the game is to rescue at least as many chickens as is specified in the goal for the day. The goal amount is the same for every player, and it will not change in between attempts. You're given 5 attempts to start, and can unlock unlimited attempts for the remainder of the day for 3 FLOWER.
The game is a simple snake-style challenge where every chicken that you “rescue” follows along behind you, creating a trail of increasing length. You lose the round if you touch anything other than a free chicken, including obstacles, the fence bordering the game board, or the chickens that are following you.
The board is an 18x18 grid, which is divided up into squares. Your character moves forward automatically, you can only change their direction in any of the four cardinal directions. You aren't restricted to the squares for movement, you can move across any pixel in each square. The squares mainly exist to help you align your direction with your target and make sure you won't run into something on the way. That said, your character's hitbox is slightly larger than one square exactly, so you must be careful not to run into anything as you move around obstacles.
Rocks and planter boxes will appear periodically around the map to obstruct you, they will never disappear. Goblins appear as moving obstacles, they will pick a random direction and move for a random number of squares before stopping. Fortunately, they warn you with a “!” above their head before they are about to move.
Once you reach the target number of chickens, you are free to run into an obstacle to end the game. You can end the game anytime with the icon in the lower-left corner of the screen, and it will not use an attempt unless you made your initial move.
