The cycle of the seasons is important to every farming game, and Sunflower Land is no exception! Every week, beginning on Monday, the season will change and new opportunities and challenges will arise. Learn to master the rhythms of the land with these guides.
In every season, certain crops and fruits can be planted. You can only buy seeds for the current season, though many are available in multiple seasons. It's important to note that crops and fruits will not die when the season change happens on Monday. They will continue to grow as normal until you harvest them, you just won't be able to plant new ones unless they are compatible with the new season. Wheat is currently the only crop that can be grown in any season, due to its importance in cooking.
Only one variety of flower is seasonal, the other three can be planted at any time. The greenhouse is unaffected by the seasons. Moon berries are also unaffected and can be planted any time you obtain a seed for one. Certain fish can only be caught in certain seasons, though the anchovy, tuna, red snapper, and all marine marvels can be caught year-round.
Each season brings changes to the landscape also: your farm, the Plaza, and the Kingdom all have different graphics depending on the week. The Beach and Retreat are unchanged. The Woodlands area also had seasonal variations before it was removed.

“A time of new beginnings as plants sprout and flowers bloom.”
“Long sunny days perfect for growing heat-loving crops.”
“Harvest season when crops ripen and leaves turn golden.”
“Cold days when hardy vegetables and root crops prevail.”
An in-game calendar is provided to help you keep track of which season is currently active, and which are coming up next. The game follows the natural progression of the seasons: spring, summer, autumn, winter. If you are a new player, however, your island will be perpetually stuck in spring until you upgrade to Petal Paradise. Even after that, the powerful magic that held your farm in temporal stasis takes another two weeks to wear off, after which you will finally be caught up with the rest of the world.
Some delivery NPCs ask for crops and fruits that are in season, though not all do. Because deliveries will only update when you complete or skip them, it's possible to have an NPC asking for something you can't currently produce. The goblin NPCs that reward FLOWER are so ravenous that they ignore the seasons altogether, asking you for foods made with out-of-season produce, and fish that can't be caught for another week or two. Initially you will want to skip these until you have a good stock of resources built up.
You can also use the calendar to find out when special events are happening. The three event types that are visible are Unknown Events, Double Delivery Day, and the Full Moon. The calendar will also display the current time in UTC, labeled as the Sunflower Clock. When this reaches midnight, the game will reset, so use it to find out when that will happen in your local area. If you live in an area that observes daylight savings time, note that UTC does not, so reset will be different for part of your year.
“A mysterious force approaches… Will it bring fortune or destruction? Only time will tell…"
The most common calendar event, this day will bring a challenge or blessing depending on the season. Tap on the day and Read More to see what events might be possible. The Fish Frenzy can occur in any season.
The developers have stated that there will only be three unknown events per week, and at least one of them will be negative. The Full Moon counts as one of those events, despite it being known, so a week with a Full Moon will only have two other events in it.
The generosity of the residents of Sunflorea overflows on this day, and every delivery you make will have double the rewards, whether that be Coins, Chapter Tickets, or FLOWER. Note that only tasks visible in the Deliveries tab of your Codex are eligible for this bonus, not Weekly Chores or the Mega Bounty Board.
The first delivery you make to an NPC will be doubled, but it doesn't have to be the one that is visible. If you are able to skip a delivery for a character, the new delivery you get will be doubled instead. If you complete an old delivery for double value and a new one appears, it will not be doubled.
Skills and items that increase the value of deliveries are factored in before the doubling, so you can stand to make quite a profit on this day. It's a good strategy to hold off on making deliveries the day before a DDD, so you can ensure you will be able to complete them the next day.
“A rare event where exotic creatures and crops appear.”
The game follows the Chinese lunar calendar, so you may not see a perfectly full moon if you look outside on the night of this event. Regardless, this brings some important bonuses to your game. For one, you can buy one each of the three “moon berries” from the market on your farm on this day. You can plant and harvest them anytime, and there are rumors of ways to get more through a system of Telegrams…
The chances of catching Marine Marvels also increases, specifically when using the Fishing Lure and Gold in combination. The chance is still very small, but it if you're determined to find them all, waiting until this day is a good strategy.
Finally, if you have Eggplants actively growing when this event begins at game reset, all of them will instantly mature. They aren't affected in any other way for the remainder of the day. The usefulness of this bonus is limited, however, since Eggplant only grows in the summer, so the full moon must happen during that season.
For the four negative events, an item is available that will prevent it if it's placed on your farm when the game resets and the event begins. The item will be consumed, however, requiring you to buy a new one. Visit Bailey in the Plaza for the costs of each item.
All of the events that affect numbers like output boosts and growing times only affect crops or fruits on the day of the event. If you plant Kale during a Bountiful Harvest and don't pick it until the next day, it will not recieve any bonus.
The Tornado and Tsunami events are functionally the same, though they require different protection items; the Tornado Pinwheel and Mangrove, respectively. Your crops and buildings will be damaged if they are not protected.
Crop damage means that any empty crop plots cannot have new seeds planted in them. If you have a crop currently growing, it will continue to do so until you harvest it, but that newly empty plot will be disabled, and you cannot plant anything in it until the day is over. Fruit and flower plots are currently unaffected by this event.
Damage to buildings means that all five of your cooking stations, the barn, chicken coop, and greenhouse will all be disabled for the day. You cannot start new foods cooking, though you can collect any that are complete or finish while the event is going on. You cannot enter the barn or coop at all, so your animals cannot be fed or collected from. The greenhouse cannot be entered, so anything in it will have to wait until the next day.
These are arguably the worst events, as while you can attempt to mitigate them by growing advanced crops that take the whole day to mature, the loss of cooking and animals far outweighs that.
All crop plots harvested on this day will have their output halved. All bonuses and boosts are factored in accordingly before the halving. Fruit, flowers, and the greenhouse are currently unaffected.
Of all the events, this one is possibly the least bad, as you can simply wait to harvest your crops until the next day. If you are concerned about the resource cost of the protective items, the Pesticide is likely the best one to skip.
The growing speed of your crops is doubled, meaning it takes twice as long for them to mature. Depending on the crop, this can be an annoyance or a major issue. Potatoes maturing in 10 minutes instead of 5 isn't that much of an issue, but Kale taking 3 days to grow is a big problem.
If you choose to skip the Heat Stone this winter, make sure you have Rapid Root available, and any harvest-time boosting items.
The opposite of the Great Freeze, all of your crops growing speeds will be halved! This event only occurs in winter and autumn, when most of the longest-growing advanced crops are active, so it can be a great boon.
All of your crops and fruits, including the greenhouse plants, have a flat +1 bonus when harvesting them on this day. Take advantage of this event to grow basic and medium crops with short growing times!
Every time you catch a fish, you will get +1 extra. This is in addition to any other boosts you have to fish output. It's important to note that it only applies to fish, not other treasures you can catch like sea cucumbers, starfish, seaweed, and the rest.
There are a series of items that directly affect the seasonal and weather events in the game, though they are all rare and require thousands of FLOWER to obtain just one. If a player is willing to invest in the game, though, they will provide huge benefits.
The Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Guardians are elemental spirits that when placed on your farm, protect against all negative events regardless of what weather items you have. In fact, you no longer need to buy protective items at all. In addition, the Sunshower and Bountiful Harvest events will be boosted, giving you even faster growing times and +2 harvest bonus, respectively.
The Seasonal Shields are another quartet of secondary items that you equip on your Bumpkin or Farmhands. The Solflare Aegis and Autumn's Embrace reduce the growing time of all crop plots by 50% in summer and autumn, respectively. The Blossom Ward and the Frozen Heart will add +1 to your crop output in either spring or winter.
While these items debuted in the Winds of Change chapter that introduced seasons, they have appeared in the auction lineup of subsequent chapters, so you may still have a chance to obtain one if you have the resources…
