The newest addition to the game, cooperative farming lets you visit other players and help them out in ways never before possible. Visit the Plaza to find your friends, or just grab a random Bumpkin and give them the boost they deserve!
Click or tap on the top icon in the lower-left corner of the screen to access the social features. Please note this feature is still very new and may be changed at any time in the future. Every effort will be made to correct the information here if and when it does.
This menu is accessible anywhere, whether on your farm or out in the rest of the world. It will show you the feed of recent activity, which includes all of the help and cheers you've received recently, notices about your followers reaching level milestones, and also public notices about players finding valuable items in chests or purchasing extremely expensive things on the marketplace. These last two can't be turned off quite yet, so instead you can filter the feed by Helped (players that visit your farm), Chat (direct messages from other followers), Cheered (players that cheered your farm), and Follows (players that recently followed you).
While it isn't strictly necessary to Follow another player, it makes helping them regularly much easier. If you already have some friends or Faction comrades that you've talked to on Discord, the SFL.World Telegram group, or another network, you can use "Search players" in the social menu to find another player by username.
If you're new or just shy, many other players have been hanging out in the plaza while waiting for their Kale to finish growing. Tap on anyone you see to access their player menu. If you like what you see, you can Follow them, which will add an entry to the Following tab in your social menu.
That will show you all of the players that you have chosen to follow, ordered by their total social points. It is possible to follow someone without them following you back, but most players are friendly and will return the kindness.
If you go looking for some friends and the Plaza is deserted, try changing your Server. You can find that under Game Options → Plaza Settings → Change server. The capacity of each server is shown, so find the most populated one (usually the Bumpkin Bazaar) and watch everyone appear at once!
Tapping on a player in the Plaza or in your social menu shows their profile, which has a host of important data, including their level, farm ID, social points, Faction, and so on. You can use the Follow button to do that, and the Rocket icon which will appear above their start date to give them a Cheer. There will also be an activity feed on the right side. The feed and cheer button are invisible in the screenshot because I can't cheer myself. You can also see every one of the player's followers, and those they follow too. If you choose to follow the player, you will be able to message them using the right panel. Be polite, otherwise you might get reported. We wouldn't want that.
There are several things you can do to help another player, both of which can be done from their profile.
Tap the Rocket icon to Cheer the other player. This is a simple action that grants them +3 Social Points, and if you are a VIP, +3 Love Charms. Social Points don't seem to do much right now, but may in the future. Love Charms are useful in many ways.
You can Cheer a player once per game reset. Cheers are limited; you receive 3 for free each day, and 3 more if you are a VIP, for a total of 6. There is no limit to the amount of Cheers you can hand out in a day, though. You can use them all up at once if you choose. When you need more, visit Goblet at the Goblin's Retreat to exchange some of the resources you find while helping out.
Tap the magnifying glass icon next to their island to visit. Once there, you will see a counter at the bottom of the screen with their name and the remaining actions you need to complete. In the upper-right corner, under their numbers, is a scroll which calls up a window with every task spelled out for you, including how many of each trash item you are looking for.
Each farm spawns 5 different trash items every day, the locations of which are randomized to any open space. Look for the gleam and tap on the Weeds and Dung you find.
Some players have taken to arranging all of the items on their farm in to a tight formation to force their trash to spawn in a specific place and make it easier for their helpers. Trash items can spawn on top of each other, or even “on” the heads of scarecrows, so keep a sharp eye out!
If you are completely stuck and can't find that last hidden Weed, get your friend's Farm ID from their profile window, then visit https://sfl.world/map/ (enter their Farm ID for once). The locations of the trash items are shown here, as they are the same for everyone who helps out that day.
There are three different kinds of social projects that you can place on your own farm, and will find on the farms of others. Tap on them to further their progress. Nothing is required from you to do this.
If the rumors are true, you will also be able to give a boost to your friend's pets, and they to yours. Keep an ear out for more news of these wondrous beasts.
A complete help session consists of picking up all 5 pieces of trash, and boosting every active project on the farm. Once you've done that, a window will pop up thanking you and announcing the Social Points and Love Charms the farmer has earned through your help. That's right, helping out earns your friend points, not you.
By default, you can help 5 other farmers per day. After that, you can continue to be helpful by paying a fee of 1 Iron, 3 Wool, and 3 Feathers per farm. This boosted limit expires at game reset, though, so you would likely be better off investing in a more permanent solution…
While visiting farmers can always help clean up your trash, you can give them something else to do and benefit greatly in the process. Visit your Workbench to get the project started. There is no limit to the amount of players that can help you in a single day, so make as many friends as you can to reap these benefits quickly.
The Basic, Expert, and Advanced Cooking Pots require Gems, and a 2x2 free area on your farm to place. The costs and amount of help needed to be completed are shown on each one. You can only have one Pot of each type on your farm at a time. Once they are completed, you will get 2 Food Boxes of the same tier as the pot (Basic = Bronze, Expert = Silver, Advanced = Gold), and every player who helped you complete it will be entered into a mini-raffle and one of them will receive an additional Box. What a deal!
The Big Orange, Big Apple, and Big Banana cost Coins, and a 2x2 free space. Like Pots, you can only have one of each growing at a time. After completion, you can sell them back to the Farmer's Market for more coins. Or, you can save them for the Mega Bounty Board, where they are worth a high number of Tickets. Finally, you can place them on your farm to admire. But, the space you put them in would be better used for growing a new one…
These permanent structures cost a high amount of Gems and take up a 3x3 space each on your farm. Unlike the other two categories, they do not disappear after completion, so you will keep them forever, and a good thing too, as they each increase your daily help limit by +1.
After clearing out a few farms, you'll find the Weeds and Dung you've been picking up are actually in your inventory. They are items like any other, but they don't have to stay there forever.
Lately, Finn has been requesting trash items for his deliveries, ever searching for new and better chum to give him an edge against his sister.
The Jester is also asking for Dung, probably to use it for a new (smelly) prank. Both of these NPCs will reward Chapter Tickets.
You can also borrow a page from Finn's playbook by using Weeds as fishing chum yourself. Try it out and see what you catch!
Head to the goblin's Retreat and speak to Goblet, who will burn your trash and give you extra Cheers in return. Then Cheer the friends you didn't get to today!
Or, if you're not in a cheery mood, you can sell them to Garbo for a few Coins. Since there are many other sources of Coins in the game, it's probably better to give them to Goblet unless you are very broke.
