¶ The Mayor
The Mayor resides in the middle of the Pumpkin Plaza, directly above the pier where you initially arrive. His closest neighbor is the Blacksmith.
He will initially greet new players when they arrive in the Plaza for the first time, prompting them to choose a username. Provided it is available, the player will be known by that name henceforth. He also provides them with the game's Code of Conduct.
Like many other characters, the Mayor's actual name isn't known, he only goes by his title.
¶ Name Change
If you decide that you really don't like your username, you can pick a different one. The Mayor explains that this process requires paperwork, and the administrative cost is 250 Gems. If you are really dissatisfied with your handle, visit him to change it.

¶ History
The ability to change usernames is very new, being added in an update in March of 2025, nearly three years after the game was launched. Prior to that, new players were assigned a string of random numbers as their username, and had to visit the Mayor to get a name of their choosing. At the time this was an easy way to identify bots, as their operators only focused on extracting resources from the game.
